CEO REPORT

The Committee for the Hunter has held its fifth Annual General Meeting (AGM) and announced the outcomes of the 2024 Director elections.

In front of 50 members, we welcomed newly elected Director Burcak Sezer, Executive General Manager of Marketing and Communications, Newcastle Airport, for a term of three years. We congratulate re-elected Directors Morven Cameron, CEO of Lake Macquarie City Council, and Rodney Henderson, Managing Director and CEO of Ampcontrol.

Leanne Holmes has been appointed as Director, representing Hunter Workers on the Committee Board. Joining Candice Crawford, Director Brokenwood Wines, and Dylan Shoesmith, Youth Committee for the Hunter representative, who were also reappointed to the Board.

The Committee farewelled outgoing Director Wayne Johnson, CEO of the Australian Rail and Track Corporation (ARTC) acknowledging his valuable contributions to the Board and civic leadership of the Hunter region including as Patron of the Committee

The Committee has found its ‘convening power’, and the new board is equipped to carry out our mission to provide thought leadership, secure partnerships and advocate for our region’s priorities with a united voice. Working across sectors and the entire region to unlock our shared vision for a prosperous future for the Hunter, our communities and economy.

Don’t forget to encourage the young people in your life to take our 2024 Youth Voice Hunter survey.

When asked, young people are able to articulate what is holding them back, including access to jobs, housing, education and services, including mental health.

So please point any 18 - 35 year olds who live in the Hunter towards Youth Voice Hunter Survey 2024.

Let them know their voice matters, as the Committee gets their priorities to the highest levels of government and they go in the draw to win $500 just in time for Christmas. 🎄
