The Hunter has always been at the centre of Net Zero, clean energy and climate and the battleground for contests on policy.
Further confirmed this week with: reporting on Net Zero tensions threatening to tear the Coalition apart; consultation workshops bringing together for the first time the NSW and Australian Government agencies leading transition policy; the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation’s release of their Statement of Intent; and commentary on the future of heavy manufacturing, including the Hunter’s Tomago Aluminium.
Our Deputy Chair, Rod Henderson, wrote on the critical role of the smelter in Australia’s clean energy transition and our region’s development, sustaining that with the right support Tomago is positioned to be the model for decarbonised heavy industry.
