HUNTER AGENDA 2026 PROGRAM

20th February 2026

Explore the sessions, keynote speakers and panellists bringing together global insight, national strategy and local leadership to set the direction for the Hunter’s next chapter.

We’ve extended the program by half an hour to accommodate an expanded agenda, creating space for additional speakers and panellists, deeper discussion and more opportunities to engage on the priorities that will define the Hunter’s future.

Stepping Up Leadership and Delivering for Our Region –  Andrew Stones & The Milleen Group

The Committee for the Hunter is proud to partner with Milleen Group, as a Gold member and now as Gold Sponsor of Hunter Agenda 2026 (HA26).

Andrew Stones, General Manager and Director of The Milleen Group, consistently steps up for the region and for the Committee, helping grow our capacity to achieve our shared ambitions for the Hunter.

Andrew has spent his career delivering complex civil, industrial and infrastructure projects throughout the Hunter. He brings a perspective grounded in decades of on-the-ground project delivery across the region, shaped not by theory but by execution.

“Strategy is important. Policy is important. Announcements are important. But delivery is what changes a region.”

Andrew says the Hunter Agenda 2026 Insights Paper reinforces what many in industry already understand - the transition away from coal is not hypothetical. It is happening now. And the decisions made over the next decade will determine whether the region manages or deliberately builds something stronger in its place.

He believes Hunter Agenda 2026 plays a critical role in creating alignment across sectors:

“If government, regulators, funding bodies and industry are aligned on project sequencing, procurement frameworks and workforce timing, we can scale confidently. That’s how you replace economic scale - not just jobs.”

For The Milleen Group, participation in HA26 is about ensuring the Hunter’s transition is coordinated, disciplined and execution-focused - turning ambition into action.

“The Hunter has powered Australia before. With consistency and long-term resolve, we can power its future.”

At Hunter Agenda 2026, Andrew joins our High Speed Rail panel discussion. His experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects will bring a practical lens to the conversation about sequencing, procurement and long-term regional value.
