NEWCASTLE LIGHT RAIL EXTENSION

This is a critical reservation to enable development of a mass transit network to service Broadmeadow and beyond, including the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct and University of Newcastle.

The Committee strongly supports options of ramping up bus services along the route towards bus rapid transit to build ridership and the case for future light rail.

Our submission to the draft Broadmeadow Place Strategy confirms we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a new, dense public transport interchange that resets the entire Hunter network. Corridor reservation like this is an important step.
